Knox was Liberty’s renowned primary designer at the height of Liberty’s success and influence upon British and international design. Knox is a leading figure of the Modern Style Movement. His work also bridged a range of groundbreaking arts movements being Arts and Crafts, Celtic Revival, Art Nouveau and Modernism.

In General
A stunning, Liberty and Co, Art Nouveau, hand hammered, polished, Tudric pewter bowl or planter, English, c1910. We understand that this piece is likely to have been designed by the famous designer, Archibald Knox. This large bowl or planter has an ovoid body shape, an everted rim and a raised plinth base. The body is interspersed with three sets of applied handles, integral to the design.

Knox’s work for Liberty was for the Tudric (pewter)and Cymric (precious metals) ranges. Tudric is a brand name for Pewterware made by W.H. Haseler’s of Birmingham for Liberty and Co. Liberty began producing Tudric in 1899 until the 1930s.

Condition
In good antique condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some pitting on the outside and inside of this bowl or planter. There are some tiny pin holes on the base. There is a very slight, barely visible dent on the side of this bowl or planter. Please see photographs.
