Cloisonne is an ancient and highly skilled technique of creating designs on metal vessels with coloured glass paste, known as enamel, placed within enclosures made of copper, called cloisons.
Year:
1868 – 1913
Material:
Enamel on bronze
Condition:
In good antique condition. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a dent on one of the lobes of one of the chargers where it has been pushed forward. The enamel is cracked and crazed in this area and there is enamel loss on the reverse. However, the damage is not immediately obvious from the front and does not take away from the overall stunning effect of these magnificent chargers. In general the enamel is in excellent condition with no other loss of enamel. There are superficial, barely visible scratches and enamel crazing across the chargers, consistent with their age and use. Please see photographs.
