Chapmanpugh modern antiques was formed in 2014 and is based in the City of London and Royal Tunbridge Wells. It is run by Stephen Chapman and Suzanne Pugh.
Stephen and Suzanne’s backgrounds are in the world of commercial business. Stephen practised law in various London law firms, becoming the in house property lawyer at Holmes Place Plc and thereafter setting up his own law firm, MacDonald Chapman solicitors in Staple Inn – one of London’s former Inns of Court. Suzanne became a partner in a Mayfair based property company, a board director of Holmes Place Plc and managing director of a division of a Dutch development company.
Suzanne and Stephen met as client and lawyer during a business transaction. They then worked together at Holmes Place plc.
Over the past 35 years Stephen has become an avid collector of a wide range of antiques from oriental ceramics, to pre–1700 furniture, clocks and barometers, militaria, porcelain, silver and glass but has become interested in twentieth century antiques. Over the years Suzanne has also developed a great interest in and enthusiasm for 19th century and modern 20th century antiques.
Stephen and Suzanne decided to set up chapmanpugh modern antiques and turn this passion into trading and dealing in antiques.
