In General
Fabulous original Gabrielle Bouffay Watercolour Gouache painting - L'Oiseau Bleu painted on 9th January 1968. Gabrielle Bouffay is a well established exciting contemporary artist who was born in 1930. Artists of the same generation include Raimund Girke, Rodolfo Arico, Raoul De Keyser, Shomei Tomatsu and Peter Milton.
Gabrielle's creative output was mainly inspired by the 1930s and the ideas that emerged at that time. During the turbulent political melting pot of the 1930s surrealism continued to be prominent as a worldwide artistic movement. A new type of magic realism came about as a result of artists looking at the ideas posed by surrealism against the back drop of their own radical political ideologies. Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera in Mexico represented this new style in their work. Gabrielle Bouffay was heavily influenced by this new artistic movement.
