A rare Rosenthal, Fritz Heidenreich designed, 1950 - 1956, black and white glazed porcelain, double stem twist vase. It is known as vase no. 2690. Heidenreich (1895 - 1966) worked at Rosenthal from 1919 to 1960 and headed the art department at Rosenthal from 1946 onwards.
This vase is a 1950s original as it has the "Kunstabteilung" ( art Department ) backstamp. The backstamp dates the piece to no later than 1956. Impressed F. Heidenreich 2690. Please see photographs.
Rosenthal was founded in 1879 as a family business in Selb, Bavaria. In the 1950s the company became pioneers in modern product design producing stunning fluid shaped porcelain pieces.
Designers at Rosenthal have included Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Walter Gropius. We love this rare vase with its intricate and clever classic 1950s double stem twist design.
